Guardian Family

What is a Guardian Family?

We at Mountain Tails want to ensure that our parents are treated like family, and we do so through a Guardian Family who will be able to provide a forever home to them after their time with us comes to an end. A Guardian Family is a family who will get a pick of the litter or a top-quality puppy/dog at no cost for the exchange of a service. The service will consist of the puppy been use for a number of years as a breeding dog once it reaches an appropriate age and passes all of its health testing.


•Females up to four litters maybe five, which can be up to six years.
• Males around 5-10 years.


*Also, our Guardian Families will receive a small compensation that can be used for the dog's maintenance (toys, vet visits, grooming, training, etc.).

How to become a guardian family?

In order to become a guardian family, you must meet specific criteria and that includes:


  1. Live within 45 minutes from zip code 37129 (Males).
  2. Live 60 minutes to 90 minutes (With a maximum of two hours in some cases) from zip code. 37129 (Females)
  3. Be willing to maintain constant communication.
  4. If you are ready for what a puppy/dog, meaning responsibility.
  5. Home visits
  6. Be able to take the dog to groom every 5-8 weeks for Golden Retrievers/Bernese and 4-8 weeks for Poodles/Doods.
  7. Take the puppy/dog for routine vet visits (Puppy vaccines, annual vaccines, etc.)
  8. Be able to train the puppy/dog basic obedience (Sit, Down, Come, Crate trained, Socialize with both human and dogs, and Potty trained).
  9. Be able to maintain dog in a fence area or on a leash when taken outside.
  10. Be able to bring male dog a few times a year for breeding.
  11. Be able to be without female dog for 4-8 weeks while she is still with her puppies.
  12. Be able to bring dog for:

  • Breeding
  • Health testing
  • Whelping (Moms)


* All expenses that are related to breeding will go on us including health testing, vet visits related to breeding, and while they are whelping.


Guardian Families will receive discounted rates in training, grooming ,and boarding services!
